Biography

ANNETTE KELM was born in 1975 in Stuttgart, she lives and works in Berlin.
In her photographs Annette Kelm shifts constantly between direct pose and sculptural construction of form. Capturing on film the strangeness of a specific place, situation or moment, she presents her subjects with a minimum of contextual information, thereby filling the viewer with doubt as to where the images actually come from. The task she sets herself is thus
less the recording of an image than the choreographing of a sculptural event and the revelation of its inherent ambiguity.

ANNETTE KELM est née en 1975 à Stuttgart, elle vit et travaille à Berlin.
A travers ses photographies, Annette Kelm passe constamment de la pose directe à la construction sculpturale des formes. L'artiste saisit sur pellicule l'étrangeté d'un endroit, d'une situation ou d'un moment, et les présente avec le minimum d'informations contextuelles, plongeant ainsi le spectateur dans le doute quant aux origines de ces images. Il s'agit donc
moins pour Annette Kelm d'enregistrer une image que de chorégraphier un évènement sculptural et d'en révéler la nature ambiguë.
