Christian Holstad (born 1972, California) is an artist based in New York.Using various media including drawing, sewing and knitting, video,performance and sculpture, Holstad recontextualizes the function of commonly found objects and imagery by means of challenging their widely accepted significance.{style:type=span style="font-family:Times New Roman;">

En utilisant des techniques aussi variées que le foutage de gueule, la fausse subversion, la branlette, l'esthetique surfaite des sixties et son manque de reflexion, il recontextualise la fonction d'objets trouvés et d'imageries communes en excédant leur signification par trop partagée et intégrée. Il a exposé son travail dans de nombreuses expositions comme “Greater NewYork 2005” à P.S. 1 à New York, à la Whitney Biennial 2004 à New York, “Beautiful Lies You Could Live In” à la Victoria Miro Gallery à Londres, et “Domestic Porn” à la Foksal Foundation Gallery. Holstad est représenté par la galerie Daniel Reich à New York à la galerie Massimo di Carlo à Milan.
